There's this chick I know called Morgan, well, Morgi really, and she's a bit of a legend.
I didn't tell Morgi I was writing this blog because, compared to some of the stories that I have share about other mums, I thought she may have thought I was a little bit crazy wanting to share hers. But, part of my mission for 2018 is to shine the light on the 'everyday' - it can be easy to lose perspective when you're reading amazing stories of some of the families I've interviewed - but I truly believe that everyone has a story to share, and that 'everyday mums' don't get enough for credit for what they're doing.
So, starting this series with Morgi was an easy choice for me. Not only does she have an amazing back catalogue of hilarious photos from our friend Leah, she is also a straight down the line / no bullshit / tell it like it is kinda person.
My kinda person.
Morgi doesn't sugar coat life, but she doesn't dramatise it either. She can be a bit of a quiet observer in some situations, but when she is on, she's on. She is thoughtful, super smart and fun to be around - yet some people may be scared of her due to her severe case of resting bitch face.
Don't be scared, it's just her face.
She's also partial to an eye roll, and something known as 'bat face', which only makes her even more of a legend in my eyes.
Morgi is the graphic designer behind Seriously Milestones, and one of the main people I credit in making my business a huge success. If she wasn't on the same page with parenting, there is no way she could create what is in my head.
She is the mum of two boys, (and no, she will not be trying for a girl), but she is so much more than just a mum - which is why we work well together.
For Morgi, the perfect day would include time with her boys, but she wouldn't be complete if she wasn't also creating, and finishing off the day with a glass of wine or two (or three or more if she's out with the girls).
She is the first to admit that motherhood hit her like a tonne of bricks.
She is the first to drop a care package on your doorstep if it's hitting you like a tonne of bricks too.
She is always up for a vent session, whether it be over coffee or wine.
She is the kind of mum that everyone needs to have in their corner, because she just get's it.
Morgimac - you're my everyday legend - the world needs more people like you.
